Young Fashion Photographer of the Year 2009
Clothes Show Live returns to Birmingham’s NEC this December to celebrate its 21 year as the world’s leading fashion and beauty event. Continuing its commitment to nurturing and developing young talent in the creative arts, Clothes Show Live will once again be organising a competition to find the Young Fashion Photographer of the Year as part of the increasingly successful Clothes Show Live Design Awards.
Entrants are invited to send in their photographs for a chance to be chosen as one of 10 finalists who will have their images displayed at Clothes Show Live 2009.
The Brief: Fashion Across the UK
We all know the UK leads the way when it comes to global fashion, with our many towns and cities showcasing our individual style and unique way of expressing ourselves through our clothing. Clothes Show Live 2009 is offering you the chance to prove that your own town or city is the most stylish place in the UK by capturing the character of your area, within your own fashion photography shoot. Clothes Show Live is asking you to style, compose and capture a unique fashion photograph to showcase all your hometown has to offer. Clothes Show Live is looking for a Young Fashion Photographer of the Year who can use take inspiration from their surroundings to create a striking snapshot of UK style that would not look out of place in the pages of the world’s leading fashion. For example using iconic landmarks, or locations that carry special meanings to your area or fashion styles that influence your local population.
The winner will receive the following:
• £2,000 prize money
• Free tickets to Clothes Show Live 2010
• 1 weeks work experience with a Fashion Photographer
Entering The Award
The selection process is as follows:
• Submission of your photograph in print and on CD
• Completion of application from www.clothesshowlive.com/schools-colleges/young-photographer
• A description of how the brief influenced your photograph
• Any sketches, or pictures that influenced / contributed towards your photograph
NB: Supporting photographs are accepted but not required as part of your application. Please ensure if you submit supporting images you clearly label/identify which shot you are submitting as your final for consideration.
•The panel will then decide on 10 finalists
• The 10 finalists will be informed by Monday 9 November if they are short-listed. If you are a finalist you must be able to attend the show on Tuesday 8 December. All applicants must reside in the UK.

Conditions of Entry
Publicity Requirements
Award winner will be required to:
• Conduct a minimum of five media interviews relating to Clothes Show Live and supply quotes on the award
for use within the media
• Haymarket Exhibitions will obtain usage rights from the photographer to promote this competition but the
copyright to all images submitted will remain with the photographer.
• The photographer will be credited whenever an image is used in connection with the promotion of this
competition
• Images can only be used in connection with the promotion of this competition for 12 months after the
winners are announced

• This bursary is open to all 16- 25 year olds in the UK
• Only one application per individual
• By completing the bursary application, applicants agree to be bound by the rules and by any other
requirements set out in the promotional material
• Entries are posted at the entrant(s) own risk
• Winners will be expected to participate in publicity – as detailed above
• Apologies, but photography cannot be returned to the entrant.
• Proof of posting is not proof of delivery
• Last date for receipt of entries 16 October 2009
• The judges’ decision is final – no correspondence will be entered into
• Judges will be appointed by Clothes Show Live and Idea Generation
