Clothes Show Live returns to Birmingham’s NEC this December to celebrate its 22 years as the world’s leading fashion and beauty event.
Continuing its commitment to nurturing and developing young talent in the creative arts, Clothes Show Live will once again be organising a competition to find the Young Fashion Photographer of the Year as part of the increasingly successful Clothes Show Live Design Awards.
Entrants are invited to send in their photographs for a chance to be chosen as one of 10 finalists who will have their images displayed at Clothes Show Live 2010. The overall winner will be awarded at the show and will receive £1,000 prize money.
The Brief: Music and Fashion
Always dreamt of being a fashion photographer? Clothes Show Live is asking aspiring young photographers to imprison the meeting between music and fashion in just one photo. From Lady Gaga’s eccentric outfits, to Kylie’s sparkling gold hot pants, to The Beatles’ Military jackets (the list goes on and on), music and fashion have always connected! Clothes Show Live is asking you to style, compose and capture a unique fashion photograph to showcase the intertwining subjects of music and fashion.
We’re looking for a Young Fashion Photographer of the Year who can take inspiration from music and fashion and create a striking snapshot that would not look out of place in the pages of the world’s leading fashion magazines or on the front of an album cover.
To enter, simply submit one picture and describe, in no more than 200 words, how you came to create the shot and a detailed explanation of your entry. Please note that all entries must be typed and not handwritten.
The Prize
• £1,000 prize money
• 1 weeks work experience with a top fashion photographer.
• Free tickets to Clothes Show Live 2011
Entering The Award, Selection Process
The selection process is as follows:
• Submission of your photograph in print and on CD.
• Completion of application form below.
• A description of how the brief influenced your photograph (see below)
• Any sketches, or pictures that influenced / contributed towards your photograph
NB: Supporting photographs are accepted but no required as part of your application. Please ensure if submitting supporting images you clearly label/identify which shot you are submitting as your final for consideration.
The panel will then decide on 10 finalists:
• The 10 finalists will be informed by 29 October 2010 if they are short-listed. If you are a finalist you must be
able to attend the show on Tuesday 7 December 2010
All applicants must reside in the UK.

Publicity Requirements Award winner will be required to:
• Conduct a minimum of five media interviews relating to Clothes Show Live and supply quotes on the award for use within the media.
• Haymarket Exhibitions will obtain usage rights from the photographer to promote this competition but the copyright to all images submitted will remain with the photographer.
• The photographer will be credited whenever an image is used in connection with the promotion of this competition.
• Images can only be used in connection with the promotion of this competition for 12 months after the winners are announced.

• This bursary is open to all 16-25 year olds in the UK
• Only one application per individual
• By completing the bursary application, applicants agree to be bound by the rules and by any other requirements set out in the promotional material.
• Entries are posted at the entrant(s) own risk.
• Winners will be expected to participate in publicity – as detailed above.
• Apologies, but photography cannot be returned to the entrant.
• Proof of posting is not proof of delivery.
• Last date for receipt of entries 15 October 2010.
• The judges’ decision is final – no correspondence will be entered into.
• Judges will be appointed by Clothes Show Live and Idea Generation
