Icelandic Emotions by Sophie Martin-Castex

icelandic emotions

UKlandscape's editor Sophie Martin-Castex visited Iceland last year, touring most of Iceland's perimeter by car, and turned her unique vision onto the many beautiful locations on this incredible island of ice. With lonely valleys, magnificent geysers, vast waterfalls, flowing rivers, sturdy Icelandic ponies and epic landscapes of rock and ice, this exhibition is a taste of how scenic Iceland is. Iceland is set in the North Sea just below the Arctic Circle and has almost continual daylight in summer.

Icelandic Emotions by Sophie Martin-Castex will be on show at The Photo Space, Putney Library, 5-7 Disraeli Road, Putney, London SW15 2DR; 7 March-27 March; Opening hours are Monday 9am - 8pm, Tuesday closed, Wednesday - Friday 9am - 8pm, Saturday 9am - 5pm and Sunday 1pm - 5pm; Admission free; All photographs are for sale.

About the photographer: Sophie Martin-Castex moved from Bordeaux to London some 15 years ago and joined UKlandscape in 2000. Influenced by the photographers that she interviewed, Sophie quickly developed her own style of  landscape and portraiture though her real strength is in that of micro-landscape, a genre originally developed by the late Fay Godwin and widely used by photographers today. Now Sophie's work is frequently exhibited at venues across South London. Sophie also assists on the UKL workshops where she runs a module on micro-landscape photography.
