Shifting Perspectives

Image

The powerful work of the Shifting Perspectives team explores the photographic representation of people with Down's syndrome, challenging attitudes and prejudices and examining alternative representations of both adults and children.

Shifting Perspectives questions general views of what living with Down's syndrome means to individuals, families and friends.

In its sixth year at the gallery@oxo, the ever expanding Shifting Perspectives exhibition reflects a contemporary trend in documentary photography where practitioners are no longer purely objective observers with little understanding of the complexity of the situation; they are personally involved with their subject matter.

Photographers featured - Richard Bailey, Fiona Field, Nadia Bettenga, Maria de Fatima Campos and Aviv Yaron.

The exhibition is hosted by Down’s Syndrome Association and funded by GlaxoSmithKline.
