The PhotoVoice Auction of Exceptional Photographs celebrates the power of photography in all its expressions and showcases photography legends alongside contemporary masters and introduces exciting emerging new talent.

The event has a keen following of art and photography collectors but has also proved to be an excellent place for first time buyers and people with a general photography to acquire prints rarely on sale to the general public – outside of the auction houses and Mayfair galleries – while still donating to charity!

Unique and rare lots include The Military Oaks of Blenheim Palace Gardens, a one-off series of prints by acclaimed British photographer Simon Norfolk; an editioned print exclusively produced for PhotoVoice by the legendary, model turned artist Sarah Moon; a signed and vintage print by Magnum photographer Eve Arnold and The Keyhole Doorway 1949 by George Rodger one of Magnum Photos founders. Other highlights include contemporary pieces from Martin Parr, Tim Hetherington, Dan Holdsworth, Massimo Vitali and Tim Flach. Exciting new faces to the PhotoVoice Auction include Lori Nix and Laura Pannack. All of which add up to a stunning and diverse collection of work that represents the very finest photography has to offer. A thought echoed by Head of Photographs at Christies’, Philippe Garner:

‘Looking at the images coming together for this anniversary auction I realise that they provide a fascinating and exemplary review of the best of photography today. Here are fine examples of contemporary practice within every genre – with a terrific selection of classic icons for good measure.’

The prints will be auctioned to benefit the international charity PhotoVoice on the Tuesday 23rd November.

PhotoVoice is currently celebrating its 10th Anniversary, in which time it has become known as a fore runner in the field of participatory photography. It continues to design and develop projects focusing on positive social change, for the empowerment of marginalised groups worldwide. These projects enable those who are traditionally the subject of photography to become its creator, helping participants find the confidence to speak out about their challenges, strengths, hope and fears.

The Auction of Exceptional Photographs is a yearly event, that not only provides the life blood to this important work but also an opportunity to for collectors and enthusiasts everywhere to come into contact with the very best of classic and contemporary photography.
