The Facts:
Toscani is the son of a photo-journalist for the Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera. He studied photography and design at the Hochschule for Gestaltumg in Zurich from 1961 to 1965. He designed advertising campaigns for Italian brand Benetton, from 1982 to 2000. Some of his most famous controversial campaigns included images of a man dying of AIDS and covered racism, war, religion and even capital punishment.

In September 2007, a new campaign against anorexia was again controversial due to his shocking photography of an emaciated woman. He now lives in Tuscany.
