Launch of the AOP Open online exhibition & Public Vote
All the selected images for the AOP Open 2009 exhibition can now be viewed online at www.the-awards .com where visitors can vote for their favourite to win the Public Choice Award.
Now in its 10th year, the aim of the Open is to showcase outstanding individual images and acknowledge excellence in photography through a diversity of styles and subject matter.
Our panel of Judges this year represented a variety of professional backgrounds: photographer George Logan; Deborah Brown, Picture Director of Grazia; Sarah Bowles, Picture Editor at Channel 4; Olivia Howitt from the Radio Times Picture Desk; Allyce Hibbert, Picture Editor at Time Out; Andy Jex, Creative Director at Saatchi & Saatchi and Tom Redican, Art Buyer at Wunderman.
The standard of entries was, as always, extremely high and it was a tough task for the judges to select the final 90 images from the 1500 submitted this year.
Whilst the Judges have decided on the Best in Show and their own personal Judge’s Choice awards, we are now offering visitors the chance to vote for the Public Choice award. Votes can be placed until 4th August at www.the-awards.com where the exhibition can be viewed in its entirety.
The most popular image will receive the Public Choice Award and the photographer will win a Wacom Intuos 4M tablet. Everyone who takes part in the Public Vote will be entered into a prize draw to win a collection of photographic books.
The winner of Best in Show will receive Wacom Intuos 4M tablet plus a Kodak ESP7 All-in-One wireless printer with photographic paper supplied by Tetenal.
The prizes will be presented at the Awards Night at the AOP Gallery on 6th August, and the exhibition runs at the gallery from 29th July to 27th August. You can also cast your Public Choice vote in person at the gallery from 29th
The AOP Open exhibition will be held at the AOP Gallery, London EC2 from 29th July to 27th August and the winners will be announced at the Awards ceremony on 6th August. Attendance is strictly by invitation only. To request an invitation, please email awards@aophoto.co.uk.
