Domenico Pugliese, Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia

Foto8's second annual summer show and awards ceremony will take over the east end of London on 24 July.

Along with the official opening of the show there will be a complimentary bar, guest music DJ’s and a carnival in Honduras Street, EC1. Tickets are on sale now priced £5 from Foto8’s office or online via http://www.foto8.com/summershow

More than 2,300 images were entered from 44 different countries including Bangladesh, Iran, Mexico, Thailand and Turkey. The final selection of photographs, chosen by Foto8 editors, will all be on display, entered into the awards and available for sale to the public.

The exhibition will run from 25 July – 5 September 2009 with more than 120 images on show. From landscapes and portraiture to documentary, all genres of photography are represented in the exhibition.

Once the show has been set up, a team of guest judges, chosen from different corners of the world of photography, will choose their favourite piece of work to be named “Best in Show” and awarded the prize of £1500.

A second award, “The People’s Choice” will be decided by public votes cast in the gallery during the show.

The work of photographer Martin Middlebrook is featured in the summer show. To see an online exhibition of his work and to hear how he takes photographs, visit our exhibitions page
