Professional Photographer of the Year 2009
The winners of the Professional Photographer of the Year Awards 2009 have been announced, whittling the 7,500 images submitted worldwide down to just one winner for each of the 10 categories.
Rebecca Litchfield, winner of the Fashion category, emerged as the triumphant overall winner, scooping the prestigious title of Professional Photographer of the Year 2009. Travel Photographer of the Year: Joydeep Mukherjee (Kolkata, India)
Editorial Photographer of the Year: Morten Rygaard (Denmark)
Social Reportage/Wedding Photographer of the Year: Karl Randay (Lichfield, Staffs)
Advertising Photographer of the Year: James Russell (Macclesfield, Cheshire)
Student Photographer of the Year: Tom Barnes (Tamworth, Staffs)
Interiors/Architecture Photographer of the Year: Victor Romero (Dubai, UAE)
Contemporary Art Photographer of the Year: Kristina V Mack (Brentwood, Essex)
Still Life and Food Photographer of the Year: Pier Paolo Campo (Rome, Italy)
Portraiture Photographer of the Year: Kyle Heslop (Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne & Wear)
The judging panel consisted of:
Grant Scott, Editor of Professional Photographer magazine; Geoff Waring, creative director at Publicis Blueprint; Sue Steward, photographic writer and journalist; Ed Webster, photographic director at 4Creative (Channel 4); Caroline Metcalfe, photographic director at Condé Nast Traveller; and Peter Rear, chief executive at PR Imaging International.
