Fragile Earth photography book and competition
The face of the planet is changing at a staggering rate, and Collins' Fragile Earth depicts these changes with dramatic before and after pictures. We've set our own competition to see how the world's changing through your eyes
This second edition of Fragile Earth provides visual evidence of the impact both human and natural developments have had on the planet. The book shows the changes the planet is going through, grouping the examples and images into distinctive themes; Natural Phenomena, Extreme Weather and Building and Development. It also depicts the sharp contrast between areas of water shortage and of frequent flooding.
The events depicted in Fragile Earth highlight how human impact and natural disasters have disturbed the lives of individuals and whole communities, as well as vital ecosystems. Shifts in the landscapes pictured involve changes over decades as well as those occurring in only a matter of days or months. In addition to the dramatic photography, including many amazing double-page spreads, Fragile Earth contains satellite images, maps, graphs, statistics, and contributions from world-leading authorities on the environmental issues discussed, making it unique in the quality and extent of its content.
