The Guild Photographer of The Year announced
The Guild of Photographers has announced that Jenny Wilkinson is their overall 'Photographer Of The Year' winner as well as being their 'Wedding Photographer Of The Year'.
Many associations base their 'Photographer Of The Year' on one image. The Guild's title chase, sponsored by One Vision Imaging and InFocus insurance, is very demanding as images are judged each month throughout the year so the winners have to produce images of a consistantly high standard month after month.
Jenny has photographed over 400 weddings in a career lasting 14 years so far, and has been a Guild member throughout this. She started as a film- based photographer and only succumbed to digital 3 years ago.
The Runner-Up in both of the above cases was Beverley Foster, which is a remarkable achievement in itself as she was the Runner-Up in 2010 as well. Last year’s Wedding Photographer Of The Year Phil Evans maintained his very high standards being pipped into third place.
Unusually, the Guild had joint winners in the 'Open Category Photographer Of The Year' Title chase– Bill McLaughlin & John Hollidge. Bill specialises in event- and sports photography and John landscapes. Just behind them in the title chase were Kristian Coltman and Jonathan Hilder.
Guild Director Lesley Thirsk said: “The Guild competition is a very difficult competition to win as the winners have to deliver first class images consistently over the course of a year, and the standard of entries each month never ceases to astound us. We have some very talented members so Jenny, Bill and John thoroughly deserve their titles as they have had to deliver some superb shots month after month in order to outscore everyone else."
