Photographer scammed by events company

PP has been alerted to a possible hoax events company, which has been charging wedding photographers for tickets to nonexistent wedding fairs in the UK.
The company, ADM Events, was due to hold a wedding fair this coming Sunday at the Jury’s Inn in Swindon but has not been reachable for the last couple of months.
Wedding photographer John Clement, who paid to exhibit at the fair, told PP “I had booked three fairs with them, the first one being on Sunday, and when I called the events department they told me they had had to cancel the booking because ADM Events was a hoax company.” John then tried to call ADM Events directly, but has not been able to get through to either the phone numbers or email addresses he successfully corresponded with earlier in the year. “What stinks is that the numbers I was given initially now fail to connect. In the beginning when I enquired about taking part in the fairs they responded promptly, which makes sense if they were trying to scam me. Now the emails bounce back, and there is one phone number that rings but you hear a click and then the call gets forwarded to a standard automatic reply saying “the number you have called is currently unavailable”.
John has already paid ADM Events 3x £75 to exhibit at three different fairs advertised by the company, one of which was the wedding fair supposed to take place in Swindon. “It’s not a huge amount of money, but I’m concerned that this might happen to other photographers as well”, he said.

Kate Johnson at the Jury’s Inn Events department confirmed to PP that ADM Events got in touch to book the wedding conference about a year ago, but that the company stopped being contactable about two months ago. “We’ve had to release the booking because ADM didn’t pay us. We’ve tried to call them but they never got back in touch.”

PP has tried to contact ADM Events on the two numbers given to us by John Clement and the Jury’s inn, but got through to automatic answering machines, one saying that the number was not recognised.

The website, which John Clement says contained a genuine-looking sidebar with testimonials from photographers, appears to have been suspended: http://www.admevents.co.uk/cgi-sys/suspendedpage.cgi

  1. Well, if John Clement is local to Swindon, has he not knocked on the door of Aaron Johnson yet? http://whois.domaintools.com/admevents.co.uk
