New range of Samyang lenses
Samyang Optics has announced three new additions to its existing range of lenses.
The three new lenses, with focal lengths of 14mm, 24mm and 35mm, are all dedicated for cine purposes. They will be available over the coming months.
The lenses are all said to be suitable for Full frame or Cropped Sensors, available in Canon and Nikon mounts. They are all manual lenses with manual focus and manual aperture.
The VDSLR (Video Digital SLR) versions have the same optical design as the non VDSLR lenses, with the addition of Follow Focus gearing and decoupled (de-clicked) apertures, which are said to make them suitable for cine / movie / video / filmaking. They can also be used for stills photography, although the de-clicked apertures of these VDSLR versions are more preferable for videography.

Samyang 14mm T3.1 ED AS IF UMC VDSLR:
The 14mm is an ultra wide-angle lens aimed at professionals, enthusiasts and amateurs who are discovering the Samyang 14mm abilities for photographic and video applications. When used on a cropped sensor, it is said to give a wide 21mm. The 14mm is suitable for many photographic applications including landscape photography.
Samyang 24mm T1.5 ED AS UMC VDSLR Lens:
The 24mm VDSLR version is compatible with full frame or APS-C sized sensors and is initially available in Canon and Nikon mounts. It is suitable for full-frame cameras, constituting a wide-angle lens for street, landscape and architecture shooting.
Samyang 35mm T1.5 AS UMC VDSLR Lens:
Suitable for full frame and cropped sensors, the 35mm focal length has universal applications. The fast wide-angle T1.5 lens is said to be perfect for landscape, journalism and general shooting applications, including low light photography. When mounted on a camera with APS-C sensor, it could become a multitasking 50mm prime lens, suitable for general photography including low light photography.
The lenses will initially be available with Canon and Nikon mounts and are due for release in August/September 2012. Expected street prices will be:
