03-06-08: Nikon Capture NX2 - image-editing software upgrade

Nikon Capture NX2

Nikon Capture NX2, an upgrade of the award winning image-editing software Capture NX, has been announced for release later this month. The software is intended for all photographers looking to achieve quick and effective image enhancement with an easy to use package.

Capture NX2 includes the Selection Control Point tool that enables users to apply enhancements such as Unsharp Mask and D-Lighting to a specific area of an image. Auto Retouch Brush allows for the quick removal of dust, whilst Quick Fix offers an automated all round fix for tone, exposure compensation, contrast, shadow/highlight protection and saturation with a single tool.

Other advances mean you can utilise 4 different workspaces and simultaneously open multiple image processing settings. New labeling support means there are nine kinds of labeling and five levels of ratings according to XMP – a metadata industry standard – but, perhaps most importantly, such metadata is compatible with Adobe Bridge (plus ViewNX and Windows Vista).
