Olympus E-520 DSLR

Olympus E-520 DSLR

The Olympus E-520 DSLR is yet another upgrade from camp Olympus. Whilst touted as a replacement of the E-500 DSLR, there’s more familiarity here with last year’s E-510 DSLR – the same body, 10megapixel Four Thirds sensor, improved Live View, in-camera Image Stabilisation and Supersonic Wave Filter dust removal.

The biggest differences from E-510 to E-520 are in the form of a larger 2.7” LCD screen, face detection, souped up dynamic range and a larger buffer to manage 3.5fps continuous shooting (up to 8 RAW files). Further enhancing shooting opportunities include a special underwater case (sold separately) that’s waterproof up to 40m.

Anyone familair with the E-range will know that the small size and versatile range of lenses available are a real sell point, making for an ideal ‘carry anywhere’ range – the Olympus E-520 continues to follow this tradition, and could be the perfect pro-portable.

Professional Photographer has got hold of one of these beauties and shall be putting it through the paces. Full review on the way, keep your eyes to the site...

Discuss in our Forum: A worthy addition to the range, or unnecessary overkill?
