24-06-08: Ricoh GX200 high-end compact

The Ricoh GX200 is Ricoh’s latest high-end compact camera, succeeding the popular GX100.
Anyone familiar with the GX100’s feature list will be at home here; the GX200 adds a 12megapixel CCD sensor to the fore and claims to ‘dramatically reduce noise’ with the addition of the new Smooth Image Engine III processing engine. Sounds as though camp Ricoh have been all ears then, as noisy images have been a continued problem – and as soon as we get our mitts on one, we’ll put this to the test.
The rest of the features list is of familiar form however. The 24-72mm wide-angle lens and 25mm compact body are true to the previous GX100 - anyone familiar will be aware of the discreet size and robust build as an ideal everyday pro compact.
