Scarlet is one of the country's leading rock photographers, regularly collaborating with some of the biggest names in music for the top magazines in the UK and America. Robbie Williams, Oasis, Red Hot Chili Peppers... the list goes on. Most of her work is now studio based, but it hasn't always been that way, her photographic beginnings are much more humble.
"I got into photography at school, then completed a degree. I made sure I made the most of all the facilities at uni.
"When I left university, I met a rock photographer called Ross Halfin. I spent some time assisting him in the studio and went on tour with him as well. Often, when he was shooting concerts, there wasn't much of an assisting job to do, so I started shooting my own images. I eventually got published in Raw magazine, and that gave me the springboard to start showing my work to other magazines.
"I started picking up work that more established photographers wouldn't do. I did a lot of gigs, too many really. I did every job that was offered to me on the basis that if I didn't do it, I wouldn't get asked again.
"Nowadays I have an agent and I'm doing more work in the studio, although I do get asked to cover tours as well. The more work you do, the more people you meet; it's important to be seen and talk to the right people, whether it's PRs or the bands themselves. It's a fickle industry so you have to be prepared to make your mark."
